People Zones is a place-based initiative developed to support communities across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland in becoming safer, more connected, and resilient. The programme is built on a foundation of co-production and partnership with communities, ensuring that residents are at the heart of decision-making and delivery.
Using the principles of Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD), People Zones works alongside communities to identify and invest in the existing strengths, skills, and resources within their neighbourhoods. This approach ensures that solutions are locally driven, sustainable, and reflective of what matters most to the people who live there.
People Zones brings together residents, local organisations, and community leaders to:
-
Reduce crime and anti-social behaviour
-
Improve quality of life
-
Build safer, more resilient communities
-
Empower people to shape their neighbourhoods

This is an opportunity for those living, working or providing a service within a People Zone to apply for up to £1,000 to do either of the following:
-
Create a small-scale project
-
Complement an existing project
We encourage applicants to build on the work already done in their People Zone and propose projects that will deliver meaningful, lasting benefits for their communities.
